Bristol Soccer Season - Spring Update (Coronavirus)
Posted Apr 2, 2020

Dear Parents,

As many of you are aware we are still dealing with the effects and fallout from the COVID 19 virus. The US Youth Soccer association has put a hold on all activities until May 1st with CJSA following these guidelines. Our travel district has determined that based on the timelines, the travel league play has been canceled for the spring.

In accordance with the information above, the Bristol Soccer Club, acting in the best interest of our families’ health and safety, has decided to cancel all soccer activities for the Spring season. We will be issuing refunds for all families who paid for the Spring season, and hope to have this process completed by May 1st. For those that ordered and purchased new travel uniforms, we will not be issuing refunds as those uniforms will be used in future seasons.

Thank you for your continued support of the Bristol Soccer Club. Please stay safe, stay home as we work through this ongoing pandemic. Please keep an eye out for future communications regarding the upcoming Fall season.

Bristol Soccer Club - COVID-19 Update
Posted Mar 19, 2020

Soccer Families,

As I am sure many of you are wondering, our soccer season will be impacted by the COVID-19 virus. We are currently following the guidelines set forth by CJSA and US Youth soccer by suspending all soccer activities through April 15th. We will reevaluate the situation at that time, and again will heed the guidance set forth by the governing bodies. At this point, we are hopeful that we will be able to proceed with a spring season using a modified, potentially shortened, schedule.

What does this mean for you?

  • Registration - will continue to open as is.

  • Payments - we would recommend not paying for programs until such time as we have a firm grasp on the schedule and how changes may impact your ability to participate in the spring season.

  • Scheduling - As stated above, this will largely depend on if/when the season starts, school schedules etc. All scenarios are being considered and discussed and as we know more, we will share that information

As always, we appreciate your continued support of the Bristol Soccer Club, more so during these trying and uncertain times. Should you have any questions, please email the club at

Thank you,

Bristol Soccer Club

Pine Lake Remediation Project
Posted Feb 20, 2020

As some of you may have seen in the Bristol Press, there is a project underway to remediate some environmental issues at Pine Lake. We will have more information to share as the season gets closer, but for now we wanted to let you know two important things.

First and foremost, this project will not impact the soccer club and its Spring programs. All spring programs will proceed as planned.

Second, there are no health risks associated with this project that impact club grounds or fields. The work is being done in the wooded areas behind the fields and the parking areas.

We do anticipate some impact to our entryway and possibly the loss of some parking areas as we anticipate the remediation crew using our space as a staging area for crew and equipment. Again, more to come on this as the season draws closer. Follow the link for the article that was published in the Bristol Press.

Thank you!

Posted Nov 3, 2019

We are pleased to announce that we will be holding tryouts for travel teams for the upcoming Spring season. Tryouts will be held Saturday, November 9th at the Bristol Soccer Club. Registration will be at 1pm, with tryouts being held from 1:30pm - 3pm.

These tryouts will be open to boys and girls with birth years of 2011 and 2012 only. If you previously tried out in the Spring, please plan on trying out again during this round of evaluations!

Thank you!

Travel Tryout Results
Posted Jun 26, 2019

Congratulations on your selection to the Bristol Soccer Club Travel program.  In order to announce the age specific teams, we need those who were selected to register by July 12th as a sign of commitment to the travel program for the 2019-2020 season.

At this time, we are still looking for more players at the U9 Boys/Girls age to complete teams and will be holding further tryouts.  The date and time will be announced club wide. For kids that attended tryouts previously for the U9 Boys/Girls in the Spring, you will not have to tryout again.

Based on commitments, there may be another opportunity to tryout in the coming months for all other age groups.  If necessary, a date and time will be announced club wide for these potential tryouts. Any child that already tried and made a team as part of this announcement will not have to try out again.

Bristol Soccer Club is pleased to announce that registration for the upcoming travel tryouts is now open. Please register your child for the appropriate age group based on the chart at the bottom of this announcement.

When are Travel Soccer Tryouts?

There are 2 nights of tryouts for each age group and players are strongly encouraged to attend both.  Attending both tryout sessions will maximize the amount of time your child can be seen and evaluated by our coaching/training staff. If you are unable to attend one of the scheduled tryouts we will have a makeup session on June 7th for both Boys and Girls. Please see schedule for 2019/20 travel season below: Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled tryout time to check in.

Tryout Dates:

  Boys - 6/3 & 6/5

  Girls - 6/4 & 6/6

Times: up to U11 will be from 5-6:30pm on your assigned day; U12 and up will be from 6:45pm - 8pm on your assigned day

  • Your assigned date and time will be determined by  your age appropriate registration

Who should try out?

Travel soccer is for committed players who are looking for more of a challenge in order to continue to grow as a soccer player.

Should my child attend all tryouts?

Tryouts are required. Please note that tryouts consist of two sessions & players should make every effort to attend both sessions.

What do I bring for the try out?

No child will be able to step on the field without the following:

  • Online pre-registration to include uploaded birth certificate and picture on their website profile
  • Check in at registration booth to receive numbered jersey for evaluation
  • Soccer ball (best to write name on the ball), shin guards and water bottle

*Samples of uniforms will be available during tryouts on for proper sizing and we will be collecting that information

What is the procedure for tryouts?

Parents must register the child for the program. All registration information is listed under the tab Online Registration located on the Bristol Soccer Club website ( Players will be on the field doing drills, small sided games etc. So that the coaching staff/trainers can evaluate the players with respect to their ability to compete at the travel level. During this time, no parents are allowed on the fields.

When will my child be notified about what team he or she is going to be on?

Players will be notified by no later than the end of June.

My child is already on a travel team. Is it necessary for him or her to tryout again?

Yes; all players tryout for travel soccer every year. If a current travel soccer player does not appear at tryouts he or she will not be placed on a team. Exceptions will only be made in extenuating circumstances (i.e., injuries, family emergencies, etc.).

Will my child be on a team with the same players who are on his or her travel soccer team this year?

Not necessarily. Player skills and bodies change rapidly in youth soccer. BSC teams are based on the information gathered from tryout results, coach evaluation and trainer evaluation, if available.  The Bristol Soccer makes every effort to place kids on age appropriate team. There may be instances were a child is allowed to play at a higher age group but that doesn’t guarantee the player will be allowed to stay in that age group year after year.

My child made the travel team, so now what?

Upon the posting of the travel rosters we will ask that the entire fee for the 2019 fall season be paid in full no later than 14 days after the posting of the rosters to secure your spot on the travel team. After the 14th day those players placed on a waitlist will now have the opportunity to secure a roster position. It has become a challenge at the Bristol Soccer Club to field competitive teams when we lose players days before the season starts or to other sports come spring.  As a courtesy, we ask for the payment in full to show commitment for fall/spring seasons.

Can my child play Travel soccer at the same time as other sports?

YES. Many Travel soccer players, particularly at the younger ages, play many sports during the same season, including baseball, football or basketball. Any players who anticipate scheduling conflicts should make their coach aware of the conflict before the season begins or as soon as possible so that the coach can plan practice or game schedules accordingly.

Where do Travel teams play?

BSC Travel teams play league games throughout Hartford County in the fall and spring. The distance traveled will depend upon the teams they play in their League and could include Avon, Simsbury, Granby, Wethersfield, South Windsor or Newington. Friendly games are also schedule with surrounding town travel teams. CT Cup games can require you to travel outside of the Hartford area (U11 and above teams only).

What is the time commitment for the players?

Travel teams practice two evenings a week. In addition to the practice schedule, each team will play at least one regular scheduled league game, generally on a Sunday; many teams also schedule friendly games on Saturdays. Teams may also elect to attend seasonal tournaments.

What is the Connecticut Cup?

The Connecticut Cup (“CT Cup”) is a statewide, single-elimination tournament played on Saturday afternoons over the course of a season for U11 and older. Cup teams are expected to participate in CT Cup play during the Fall season and Spring Season.

As part of the U.S. Soccer Player’s Development Initiatives, cjsa will follow the new birth year and season matrix listed below.  There will still be some cases where play ups will apply.

Changes to Recreation Soccer - We are pleased to announce that as a result of parent feedback, we have made changes to the age bands for recreational soccer. For recreational groups over the age of 8, players will be randomly assigned to teams and we will not be honoring any requests for specific coaches.

We will be creating our teams based on the number of children registered as of end of day on 4/1, and will be building balanced teams to the best of our ability, to encourage competitive games.

We also have a mandatory Candy Sales Fundraiser and funds raised help offset club expenses, which include field maintenance and equipment. **Candy will be available for pickup at your division’s Meet & Greet with your coach**  We also offer a buyout option of $55 per family. Those families not wishing to sell candy items can choose the buyout option at the time of registration. Thank you to all for participating!
